It's all about the children....

A mother's love is such a special gift.  A mother's love is shown by the way she cradles and hugs her child.   A mother's love is understanding when a child needs a friend.  It is patient and kind when a child is trying to learn and it is stern when a child needs a lesson.  Most of all it is strong and gives a child the wings to fly.

Unfortunately, in impoverished areas of the world many children will grow up without this love because all too often the happiest day of a women's life , the day she gives birth, is also the day she dies.    Please honor your mother this Mother's Day by making a donation to our Maternal Health Program so that other women will have the opportunity to raise their children, love them and watch them grow.

To Love a Child currently has 50 women in our program that desperately need your help.  We provide pre-natal vitamins, Bundles of Love birthing kits, Bundles of Joy newborn baby kits, maternity clothes and we are working closely with health care professionals to provide mobile clinics for pre-natal care, post-natal care and immunizations for children.

To make a donation please go to www.toloveachild.org or call 518-859-4424.  We would be happy to send your mother a card to acknowledge your gift in her honor.

Board member, Virginia Touhey is racing to raise money for TLC!  Virginia is a Clifton Park triathlete who is challenging herself to compete in the prestigious Lake Placid, NY Ironman 2011.  Held in July the competition involves a 2.5 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run.  WOW!  Virginia says "On its own this is a HUGE challenge for me but something was lacking.  I decided to share this challenge with all the hungry children TLC serves throughout the world."  With that said, Virginia has set a fundraising goal of $15,000 to support the nutritional programs we have in Haiti and Africa.  Thanks Virginia--we'll be there with you in Lake Placid to cheer you on!!  We are so proud of you.

If you'd like to support Virginia with sponsorship or just encouraging words of support contact her at vtatplay@nycap.rr.com.

YOU GO GIRL!
