Building a School in Mberengwa, Zimbabwe
The MOST Extensive Endeavor in Our History
The MOST Important investment we can make in a community and its children.
We are building a school in Zimbabwe that will welcome children of all capabilities and provide specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
The Project will benefit:
- 1,270 households
- 51 disabled children under 18
- 111 disabled adults over 18
- 6,746 residents
The Project includes:
●Drilled well and clean water - COMPLETED! 2nd WELL IN PROCESS!
●Piggery – income generating project - COMPLETED!
●Community Room (a multi-use area, temporary classrooms, visitor accommodations) - COMPLETED!
●A Grainery - COMPLETED!
●A truck to transport students and supplies - COMPLETED!
●Agriculture Development - COMPLETED and ONGOING!
●Security Fencing around the perimeter of the property - COMPLETED!
●Solar Power
●Trained Teachers
●Life skills and cultural education programs
●Programs for adults and caregivers
●Library
●Personal hygiene and health programs
●Educational materials & furniture that meets the special needs of individuals of all abilities and diagnoses
●Classrooms and outdoor kitchen

We are so proud that the first teacher has signed on despite not having a school building! Our luggage was full of educational toys on our last trip to help get her started.

We presented the men with battery operated tools. Their first task was to complete a desk that a child in a wheelchair could sit at comfortably. They did a great job and are anxiously waiting to build more desks.
