Lead by team member, Karen Bishop, our bee education program was a wonderful success.  Students in the classroom completed age appropriate activities that helped them learn about pollination, types of bees and the benefits of honey.  One hive was established prior to our arrival so students could enjoy a taste of this sweet treat.  More hives will be established so that more and more people can benefit from honey production. 

Our first stop was a little town outside of the Capital City of Harare.  Here we presented an abundance of speciality toys and games for children with disabilities.  For two days we played with these wonderful kids and young adults and listened to the heartbreaking stories of their moms who struggle every single day to buy food, clothing and medicine.  The parachute pictured above was a big hit and the little boy loved playing keep-away with the flag football belt.  There are so many needs for this program.  Any special education teachers out there want to get involved?????  Please let us know.

It's official.  We are going to Haiti in November.  RPI-Engineers for a Sustainable World will be part of our team and will be constructing a mobile solar charging station in Rantlamouaie.  We are looking for several teachers to join us to conduct a special training session with the Haitian teachers.  Of course, there is always room for others--everyone has a gift to share! 

Thanks to SISC, Soroptimist International of Saratoga County, we were given a grant to build a kitchen classroom for a school in Haiti.  We built the structure, installed sinks, built work stations, and provided three different types of cooking stoves. The students learn how to properly wash crops grown in the school garden and then experiment with the cooking stoves to decide which method is best for the environment, their health and for a large facility such as their school.  Cooking methods included solar, propane, electric, and wood.  Stools for the workstations are still needed.  If you would like to help us purchase the stools please contact us!

In November, many local children participated in our Kids Helping Kids program.  They set goals to raise money for supplies that would be beneficial to children in Haiti.  One of the goals was to purchase books for the teachers so they would have a curriculum for their classrooms.  The first set of books has been purchased and the teachers love using this great resource.  Thanks to all the kids who participated.  Our 2017 program is starting soon.  If you would like more information contact us!

  December is DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR Match Month!  Please help us raise money for our many projects in 2017!  Over the next several days we will be sharing our plans and what your donation will be used for. 

We look forward to working with the folks from Libros Para Los Ninos in Haiti at the Orphanage for the Aide of Unfortunate Children. The group works in the Dominican Republic to provide the best possible education and educational tools for children in the poorest areas of the DR.  Two members of the group will meet us in Haiti in November to begin helping the children at the orphanage with their educational needs.  Thank you Libros Para Los Ninos!
