Our Mission
On January 12, 2010 a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti imposing enormous misery to its people, but, especially to the children. Our goals are to see that the children under our care are safe and secure. We strive to make sure they have the supplies they need to be comfortable and we work with our project managers to ensure that the children have the supplies and resources needed to continue their education.        

It is estimated it will take 10 years to bring Haiti back to the stage it was in prior to the earthquake. We have a lot of work ahead of us but with your continual support we can create sustainable communities for children and their families.       

Where We Work
To Love a Child, Inc. has been working in Haiti since its inception.  We work at two sites primarily; Rantlamouaie, which is on the Central Plateau, and  at the Orphanage of Good Will formerly in Port au Prince.  Since the earthquake of January 12th the children at the orphanage were moved to a lovely temprorary location in Croix des Bouquets.          

Due to the wonderful partnerships with GE, RPI (Engineers for a Sustainable World), St. John's Episcopal Church, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and St. George's Episcopal Church we have been able join together to provide greater assistance to our sites as wells as others on the Central Plateau.
 

What We Do  
  1.  Provide supplemental nutrition to promote healthy eating
  2.  Provide solar power for electricity and computer technology
  3.  Grow vegetable gardens to improve food supplies
  4.  Provide spiritual support and friendship to bring hope
  5.  Provide access to clean drinking water
  6.  Provide medical supplies for a clinic in Port au Prince
  7.  Provide school supplies, furniture and equipment 
  8.  Provide training and education for adults and children
  9.  Provide personal hygiene supplies and medical care
10.  Purchased a vehicle for our project manager with partners:  St. Johns & St. Andrews Episcopal Churches   

To Love a Child makes every effort to align its programs with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals of eradicating poverty and hunger, achieving universal education, promoting gender equality, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, combating HIV/AIDS and malaria, ensuring environmental sustainability and developing a global partnership for development.
