14th Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony
Friday, November 17th at 6:00 p.m. Skidmore College This is going to be the most fun and interactive event in our history! Honoring: Karen Bishop for her 10 years of service on our board of directors and her her dedication to our mission Event Highlights: This year's event brings you the inspirational story of a fearless Haitian woman who embarked on a courageous journey to America, with her baby, in search of a brighter future. Her journey unfolds against the backdrop of her struggles as an immigrant in the United States and the hardships endured by her family amidst Haiti's most severe civil unrest to date. Prepare to be moved by the heartwarming account of her emotional reunion with her husband, mother, brother, and sister, after three long years of separation. Their stories reflect the strength of the human spirit in overcoming adversity and embracing new opportunities. Together, their stories will ignite our own desire to create positive change for the less fortunate, both locally and globally. Our Mission: To Love a Child, Inc. is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization that provides humanitarian assistance to impoverished children and their families throughout the world to help create a better future and quality of life for all.
Where We Work: We have extensive projects in two villages in Zimbabwe, Africa, one village in Haiti, and support many efforts in the USA. About Us: In the beginning we concentrated on a few small projects that allowed us to build a bond with the people in the villages we serve. Through lengthy community discussions we learned about their needs and before too long our scope of projects expanded. There was a need to take care of the sick and the elderly and the individuals who came upon such desperately hard times we couldn't imagine how they survived. There were smart and talented men and women anxious for employment. There were grumbling bellies, communities without clean water and people who needed light in the darkness of night. Children needed classrooms, desks, benches, and school supplies. Teachers needed a source of income. Eyeglasses and medical care was needed by all. And, our hearts broke as people struggled through the powerful forces of Mother Nature such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and severe droughts. Over the years we have been able to address many of the needs of the people through our programs with the support of generous and dedicated donors. Please read through our web-site to check out all that we do! Consider making a donation or a reservation at one of our events today!“Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work.” – Mother Teresa
