They say Haiti is very slow to recover as per this article: http://www.timesunion.com/default/article/Rebuilt-Haiti-still-not-reality-3725404.php. I'm so proud to say that To Love a Child is going strong in making a difference. Thank you for your help and please join us if you aren't already involved!
Hope you will join us for a really special night. Mark those calendars! If you are interested in sponsorship or donating toward our auction let us know! More information coming soon!
Our 9 person team is counting down the days until we leave for Haiti. The sea container that left here in May arrived safely and is now in Rantlamouaie awaiting our team. Although originally slated to be sleeping quarters for orphans, the sea container is now being retrofitted as a patient ward for a new clinic in rural Haiti. More information on this change of plan will be coming soon. It was no easy undertaking getting this container to Rantlamouaie. A road actually had to be built through the rough terrain! Photo One: May 2012 - just a small portion of the supplies that were shipped in the container. Photo Two: May 2012-the container on the RPI campus. The students have already installed the insulation, wallboard and cut out the windows and vents. The container will have solar power so that the temperature can be controlled for the patients. To Love a Child was so pleased to accept the 2nd place award at the "Celebration of Heroes" event on Friday, July 13th at the Hilton Garden. The event celebrates Melissa Wards reign as Rotary District 7190 District Governer. Congratulations Melissa! We received a check for $500 in recognition of the award! Thank you Rotary!! I can't believe it has been so long since we've blogged. Forgive us! There is so much news to share as we have been very busy. Stay tuned for more frequent updates!
